I have run across the great mountain ranges in the world, through the most dangerous deserts, the ice on the South Pole, over Greenland and deep in jungles. In summary, it has been warmer than +60 degrees, colder than -50 and higher than 6,000 meters above sea level. Although there have been many nice adventures around the world, it is especially a running day that has burned itself in my soul - Lofoten Ultra-Trail (2016).
Lofoten Ultra-Trail is a race with high international quality, diverse challenges and extreme nature experiences.

Here's what you experience:

Lofoten is north of the polar circle and is Europe's wildest outpost. The majestic Lofoten Alps protect as a wall against the wild Barents Sea. The seaside landscape includes small wooden houses, fishing boats, deep fjords, unspoiled coves with inviting white beaches where only the seamen and the followers of the Vikings bathe. The nature in Lofoten has rivers filled with the best champagne icebergs and an air you can sell on a box elsewhere in the world.
The midnight sun gives the fast changing weather a beautiful light that changes nature all day. The climate is milder than Greenland and Siberia which are on the same latitude, but although May and June are the driest months it is not uncommon with snowfall.
Sea eagles, reindeer, colonies with screaming seabirds and whales are experiences you have to relate to in the competition.
In this inhospitable nature, you meet an inclusive fishing community where there are neither locks on houses nor crime, and you will feel welcome everywhere.
The race's seven thousand meters of altitude is technically but well-marked and has for several years been carefully prepared by local enthusiasts who have acquired international expertise. From the start, the focus has been on establishing a competition with high international quality and safeguarding nature.

You can leave Lofoten, but you will never forget the Lofoten Ultra-Trail, because its beauty is nowhere else.
